Design and Control

<php echo get'newdesign' ?>

One of the many advantages of a good CMS system is the control of the design. One template controls the entire website.In the past and in simple static websites a 'template' page is created and then duplicated 7 or 8 times depending on the number of pages needed. Any changes to the site and all those pages will have to be changed - a time consuming practice and increases the chance of making mistakes. The CMS templates are maintained with the combination one index file (Default) and one CSS (Cascade Style Sheet). This makes it very easy to change the whole look and feel of a website 'at the flick of a switch'. (Of course you need a well designed template / CSS file set up).

Menu control

One very important aspect of a single template system is menu control. If you add an article and add a menu link to that item the link it is replicated across the entire website as the menu system is generally run as module that sits in part of the template such as top, right, left or bottom. This removes the need to change every page within the website. As menu links are the most important part of a website this will save time - in a word - one action change will be duplicated in all 'pages'.

An example of design control - www.cmsloaded.com/demo - each template is different but is exactly the same content as this is only one website.
